Closing...

As I've previously stated, this has been an amazing year.  I've attached some photos of our final moments at RMS and I hope you enjoy them.  Please don't forget to complete the REQUIRED summer reading assignment, and I'll be teaching at DHS next year so students should feel free to visit me!

Last Week of School!

Schedule/Events
Thursday, May 24th --> Capstone PRACTICE & 8th grade picnic (we are currently working on a rain contingency plan)

Friday, May 25 
--> CAPSTONE ceremony @ the DHS PAC - 10:00am

Students will arrive at school and go to their homerooms by the normal start time (8:40am). Then, we will dismiss by homerooms and kids will walk around RMS in a loop, and all of the teachers and staff will cheer them on as they walk over to the high school PAC. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10:00am, and after the ceremony, students are encouraged to go home with families.

This has been a wonderful year, and the students have grown so much.  This week we are wrapping our our book presentations and then students will share their reflection projects.  Most students are on track to finish by Wednesday, and some may need to work on their projects at home.

Week of May 14th

We will be MAP testing all week. We started with reading today, and students will begin language arts on Wednesday.

Homework
1. Continue working on the year-end reflection.
2. Read for 30+ minutes daily. Students have until May 25th to reach their AR goals.
3. Finish book shares and be ready to present next week.

Tickets are on sale NOW in the lobby at 8:10am-8:50am until May 17th and they will not be sold on the day of the dance. Tickets are also available on Paypal through the PTA page on the RMS website.

Week of May 7th

In addition to delivering their book share presentations, students are continuing to work on their year-end reflection projects.  They are currently taking their math MAP during math class, and next week they'll take the reading and language usage sections of MAP in ELA class.  Students should continue to review on IXL 10-20 minutes daily per subject.

Homework

1.  MAP Review --> use the study guide to remember what areas you should focus on
2.  Read Daily --> AR goals are due by May 25th!
3.  Book Share Presentation (most students are done with their Slides and several have already presented)
4.  Year-End Reflection Project (we are also working on this in class - most students are on track!)


Friday was Ms. Thorpe's last day. The students and I will miss her!

Every experience is leaving at a different time, so please contact the teacher/administrator in charge of the experience your child is attending if you have any questions.

MAP
Students are taking the Math MAP this week and Reading/Language Usage next week.  Students have been encouraged to study on IXL so they can review this year's concepts/skills.

Week of April 30th

Today we discussed MAP goals and students were able to look at the breakdown of their fall and winter scores.  They set their goals and identified areas of growth.  Over the next two weeks students should review and they should start by focusing on their identified areas of growth.  

On Tuesday students will begin their end of the year project.  

Homework
1.  Read daily -- Students have until the last day of school to meet their AR goals!

4.  Study for the upcoming MAP assessment - 10-15 minutes daily

Week of April 23rd

We are finishing up GMAS testing this week, and students are working on the article analysis during our class time together.
