Week of February 26th

I hope everyone had a restful winter break.  For the next several weeks students will be working on analyzing and writing short stories.  We will also be reviewing grammar concepts.  

Homework:  Vocabulary Sentences & Paragraph, Study Vocabulary, Vocabulary Extension

Week of February 12th

We have one more week until winter break and we have a full schedule.  I shared the schedule with the students on Friday, so many of them will be working on completing missing work, finishing Lord of the Flies, and/or using the summary to review.

There's still time for students to submit an essay for the Young Georgia Author's Writing Competition.  Students who want to submit a writing piece have until Thursday, February 15th.

Week of February 5th

We are finishing Lord of the Flies this week.  Students will examine some of the themes and symbols within the text and we will discuss how to format thoughtful response paragraphs.  Next week, students will be assessed in analyzing and organizing.  The essay summative will be open book and open note.  That being said, students are encouraged to make sure their classwork is competed thoroughly and accurately. 

Homework
1.  Read chapter 9-12 of Lord of the Flies
2.  Complete chapter 9-12 questions/analysis (Due Friday)-- students will have some class time to work on this, but they will need to complete some of this work at home.

Come out to I Am The Unlikely Hero this Friday at 6pm at the DHS Performing Arts Center.  The students have been working really hard and it's going to be a phenomenal performance.
