Week of March 5th

This week we are continuing our short stories unit and we are focusing on character and conflict.  Additionally, students will learn about some specific types of nouns.  There are several grammar rules and designations that students need to be aware of in order to improve their writing and be fully prepared for the upcoming standardized assessments.


Book club
We are reading Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond.  This is a hefty book and it will be the last one we read in book club this year.


Homework
1.  vocabulary -- Sentences/Paragraph, study words
2.  optional vocabulary extension
3.  read for 30+ minutes daily
4.  work on independent reading tasks -- book share presentations begin right after spring break and article
